I’m interested in an internship with ĢƵ Allen. When should I connect about opportunities?

We begin considering students for our internship program in late August and through the fall. At that time, you can explore open internship positions on our .

What’s the Summer Games program? What’s the difference between joining ĢƵ Allen as an intern or “summer hire” versus being part of the Summer Games?

Whether you’re a participant in the Summer Games or a traditional summer hire aligned with a specific team, interning with ĢƵ Allen is a great opportunity to start your career.

  • The Summer Games is a project-based, intensive, ten-week internship program that simulates a real-world startup accelerator. A Summer Games intern collaborates on a team guided by senior leaders. You and your cohort will have the freedom to develop and prototype ideas aimed at solving complex world problems.
  • In contrast, a summer hire intern supports the wide-ranging needs of a specific team. The roles and responsibilities of a summer intern are determined by the team to which the intern is aligned, and opportunities may vary each year.
Are ĢƵ Allen’s internship opportunities paid?

Yes, Summer Games interns and summer hire interns are paid. Interns are not eligible for benefits but receive paid federal holidays.

Can I get academic credit for an internship with ĢƵ Allen?

It may be possible to get academic credit for your internship, but ĢƵ Allen can’t grant credit independently. Typically, credit is awarded by your university’s academic department and policies differ from one academic office to another.

While ĢƵ Allen doesn’t give academic credit for an internship, we’ll review and validate any documentation from your university that might allow you to obtain credit for a ĢƵ Allen internship. Note that our internships are paid, which can sometimes preclude a student from getting credit for an internship.

Do you offer summer housing or temporary relocation assistance?

We do not offer summer housing or temporary relocation assistance.

Where are your internships located?

Our internships are located at some of our ĢƵ Allen offices across the country, including the Washington, DC, metropolitan area; the West Coast; Southeast; Northeast; and more.

To be considered for an internship at ĢƵ Allen, do I need previous work experience?

While previous work experience is a plus, it’s not required for an internship with us. We review academic work, volunteering history, extracurricular activities, and other experiences that demonstrate the skills you’ll bring to the internship.

What can I do to increase my chances of being selected by ĢƵ Allen for an internship?

In addition to reviewing the and submitting an application to position(s) of interest, you can build your network, , put your best foot forward in writing your resume, and be prepared for the interview process. We look for students who demonstrate that they have a passion and willingness to learn.

Are ĢƵ Allen’s internships full time? What are the typical work hours?

Our internships are full time, and interns typically work 40 hours per week. Typical hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but your manager may determine specific hours.

Are internships only open to current college students?

Yes, internships are open to candidates who are currently enrolled in bachelor’s or master’s degree programs. Students who are not currently enrolled in school or have already obtained a degree would be eligible for full-time positions, not internships.
