For senior lead engineer Lindsey Mohr, that career turning point is clear. Based in our Rome, New York office, Lindsey didn’t start off leading a team of cybersecurity experts. In fact, she began her career working with disadvantaged kids and studying to be a kindergarten teacher.
“I was hesitant about interviewing to be an executive assistant at ĢƵ Allen. It didn’t align with the education degree I was pursuing, but they offered tuition reimbursement, better benefits, a higher salary—so it was a no brainer. During my first year in Rome, one of my senior leaders talked to me about my career ambitions. He encouraged me to change my degree to IT.”
The support and investment in Lindsey’s future was the turning point for her—and the decision to change her major changed everything.
“I was hooked. I saw a clear career path stretching out in front of me. I worked my way up the ranks at ĢƵ Allen, proved myself with key clients, built a team. The rest is history.”
Today, Lindsey works on the Distributed Common Ground System, one of the Air Force’s highest-profile projects. “Warfighters are outgrowing the current surveillance system and we’re building a new one. My team oversees its cybersecurity. It’s exciting to know that we’re meeting the needs of soldiers. ĢƵ Allen is the place where you can make your career what you want it to be, while also making a difference for our country.”
There’s no doubt Lindsey would have made an excellent Kindergarten teacher, but we’re glad she changed course and brought her skills to ĢƵ Allen—and we’re putting them to good use in Rome.
